Java Singh is currently a visiting lecturer in the Spanish Department at Doon University, Dehradun. She came to the academic life as a second career, after having founded and run an entrepreneurial venture in floriculture. Her company, Lake Flowers, was the first export-oriented floriculture project to be set up in Uttarakhand, where she grew and exported tulips, liliums, and other flowers for sale in Europe, Middle East, Japan, and elsewhere. Java earned her PhD in Hispanic Literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad.

His ambition for solving real-world problems with technology began with his interest in building iOS apps in early middle school.
